It seems like StartLogic is actually always trying to make it better.


racingstudebakers : I'm one of StartLogic's customers from their beginning. I have to say up front that I'm on a shared server, a "little" user, one of StartLogic's cheapest plans, (that's my choice). I'm not a web designer, one little website and if Front Page can't do it, I can't either. But, initial setup was VERY easy, fast and painless. Was some problems initially with their servers, (years ago), but that was straightened out VERY well and I've watched StartLogic grow, (as my one little website has), and become even better. In fact, I think that the value and service they provide was the ONLY reason that I've been able to get on, and remain on, the internet. I've recommended StartLogic to many friends and associates and have had great feedback from them as well.

Their new V-Deck web administration tools are easy enough, even for me to use and understand. MANY upgrades (behind the scenes).They've upgraded to a new webmail program that's on par with any "out there". They have everything to get a novice webmaster up and running in no time, including excellent databases built in, (3 free, even with my "cheap" account). Plenty of "nice" stuff available to administrate/promote/enhance your website, WELL worth what you pay.

Only "problems" have been/are, night phone tech support, almost never can get any, (day time seems a LOT better). Have waited a few times for hours on phone, with music droning on and on in my ear, and I'm STILL waiting for them to answer. That seems to be a little better lately, (trying to upgrade my PHP databases, e-mail). 90% of my calls to tech support have been for something that I don't know enough about to do correctly, not StartLogic problems. They DO hang right in there with you to get "it" fixed, (unless it's their databases). Don't offer tech support for their default databases, (not that anyone else does either, but it's important for a novice like myself, I would appreciate that), SQL server problems early on but that seems to be fixed now.

Overall, the server speed seems to be average, (but again, in all fairness, I'm on a shared server and would have better speed with an enhanced account), but it's very adequate for my website. Whole experince is VERY new webmaster friendly. Up time is EXCELLENT. Tech support is pretty good when you DO get someone, (I hate email/forum tech support), but I've seen their new support forums and they seem to be well done, lots of headings for different areas of help. Have always been friendly and helpful when you reach someone.

Bottom line, I doubt that there's many web servers who can beat StartLogic for "bang for your buck". NObody's perfect, but it seems like StartLogic is actually always trying to make it better. I'm gonna hang in there, for sure. Nope, I've never been at a StartLogic company picnic, just tellin' the truth.
