Affordable mobile data offerings are key to consumers, says 8.ta

Operators must move towards innovative models to ensure that the demand for affordable mobile data services is met with suitable data products.

While mobile data growth continues to expand in the South African arena, there is a gap in the market for affordable entry-level prepaid data products that resonates with cost-conscious yet curious Internet consumers.

This is according to Amith Maharaj, Senior Managing Executive at Telkom Mobile, who says that in response to this observation, 8.ta has extended its GO 3 GIGS BIG Data promotion on 8.ta’s network.

The promotion is priced at R149 and offers a 3GB data bundle consisting of 2GB anytime data and 1GB ‘Midnight Surfer’ data for use between 12 am and 5am. Customers essentially pay 5c per MB. The Pre-paid data offer is only available on 8.ta’s network.

Maharaj says the GO 3 GIGS BIG promotion is one of various offers 8ta has developed to cater for the needs of specific customer segments. Other current data offers include the 10GB contract bundle and the 60GB+60GB prepaid bundle.
