EduC8
EduC8 is an 8ta initiative that is endorsed by the Department of Basic Education.
Using the medium of high-definition digital cinema technology, EduC8 aims to provide quality Mathematics and Science revision lessons.
We aim to assist matrics to improve their marks in Mathematics and Science, through a structured and targeted intervention. Learning materials are designed with a particular view to examination preparation.
8ta funded 30 000 seats nationally, over a ten-week programme from 31 July to 2 October 2011, so that learners from previously disadvantaged backgrounds could attend the matric revision sessions.
BHP Billiton partnered with 8ta to provide transport for learners. In addition, Samsung sponsored the printing of learning materials.
- Learners received a goodie bag packed with useful resources including files, notepads, pens and maths sets, at the first screening of the Mathematics and Science events.
- Weekly workbooks with exam-type questions and model answers were provided.
- Every learner received a box of popcorn and a soda.
- Prizes of cellphones and calculators were up for grabs.
- Qualified teachers were on hand to answer learners’ questions.
- Bursary information and application forms were also provided.
