Messaging Bundles

Messaging bundles can be used for both SMS and MMS messages. They are available in various sizes and can be purchased on a once-off or recurring monthly basis. The bundle cost is the same for both once-off and recurring bundles (see the tariffs below). The difference is that recurring bundles have the added benefit of low out of bundle rates.

Once-off bundles:

• Valid until the end of the next month.
• You may purchase multiple bundles according to your needs.
• Once the bundle is depleted, the standard messaging rates apply.
• You can purchase a once-off messaging bundle at any time. Dial *180#

Recurring monthly bundles:

• Valid for a calendar month and unused messages are forfeited at month end. Automatically renews each month on a month-to-month basis.
• Only one recurring bundle may be active at a time.
• Once your bundle is depleted, you can continue to send messages at reduced out of bundle rates (see table below)
• You can upgrade or downgrade your recurring bundle size – the change is effective the next month.#

• Allows you to budget and plan for spend on messaging services.
• Messaging costs are reduced.
• Attractive out of bundle rates on recurring bundles mean you can continue to enjoy lower rates even when your bundle is depleted.
• Low-cost messaging enables near real-time communication of information and multimedia from even low-cost handsets.
• Bundles can be used for SMS or MMS.#

How to get Messaging Bundles

Recurring Messaging Bundles:

• Contact your nearest 8ta store, Telkom Direct Store or 8ta dealer, or call the call centre on 180 to add a recurring messaging bundle to your 8ta Contract, Saver or Data plan.

Once-off Messaging Bundles:

From your phone:

• Dial *180#,
• Choose option 1 “Bundle Purchases”
• Then choose option 2 “SMS/MMS Bundle”
• Then choose your bundle size and follow the prompts to confirm your purchase.
• You will receive a notification SMS once the bundle is activated.

Please ensure you have sufficient airtime available to purchase the bundle before dialing *180#.

How to check your SMS/MMS bundle balance:

• To check your SMS/MMS bundle balance at any time, dial *188# and you will receive a balance SMS shortly.
