What is an Internet Saver Plan?
A: The Internet Saver plan is a data contract package that provides a monthly recurring data bundle and that also behaves like a pre-paid package once the recurring data bundle is depleted. The Out-Of-Bundle data usage and Once-Off Internet bundle purchase shall be charged out of the subscriber’s pre-paid wallet, i.e. the subscriber shall recharge with prepaid airtime voucher to consume Out-of-Bundle Internet usage or purchase a Once-Off Internet Bundle.
How much does it cost?
A: The Internet Saver plans can be subscribed to on a Month to Month, 12 or 24 month contract. Only 12 and 24 month contracts come out with a E173 Huawei Modem.

Can I use the service in areas where 8ta has no coverage?
A: Yes, the service can be used nationally within the borders of South Africa and is available on both 8ta network and MTN roaming in areas where 8ta has no coverage.
Will i automatically start consuming at an Out of Bundle Rate when my recurring bundle gets depleted?
A: No, once a subscriber depletes their recurring bundle they will get redirected to the redirect page where they will be provided with the below options, however a subscriber will first need to recharge with airtime to proceed:
- Continue surfing for free at a slower speed of 32kbps. This will be limited to 10% of the subscriber’s chosen recurring data bundle.
- Wait until the next month to start using the service again.
- Choose to surf at out of bundle rates of R1 per MB.
- Purchase a Once-Off Internet bundle.
Will I be charged the same rate for Out-of-Bundle usage, when I’ve used up my in-bundle Data

A: No, Recurring Data bundles expire at the end of every month. Only Once-Off Internet Bundles expire at the end of the following month from date of purchase.
What Modem speeds can I get with this product?
A: The following data modems are available at 8.ta stores:
- Huawei E173 (Capable of up to 7.2Mbps Downlink and up to 5.76 Uplink Speed)
- Huawei E367 (Capable of up to 21.6Mbps Downlink and up to 5.76 Uplink Speed)
- Huawei E1820 (Capable of up to 21.6Mbps Downlink and up to 5.76 Uplink Speed
Can I request the free Call Out & Support Service every time I experience problems with my modem?
A: No, customers who experience problems should contact the Call Centre on 183. The one free Call-Out & Support is only for customers who purchase a new 3G Device & require assistance with it and can only be redeemed once.
Will I be able to port in my number to the Internet Saver Plans?
A: Yes
Can I Migrate to other Plans?
A: Upward Migrations
An upward migration refers to the scenario when the subscriber wishes to move to a package of a higher subscription than the existing package, during the fixed term portion of the agreement. The subscriber may upward migrate without any penalties at any time during the fixed term agreement. The subscriber shall retain any balance of the Once-Off Internet bundles at time of upward migration. The subscriber shall continue with the existing agreement, and shall not be considered to have entered into a new agreement based on the migration request. Upward migrations are limited to one instance per calendar month only.
Downward migrations
A downward migration refers to the scenario when the subscriber wishes to move to a package of a lower subscription than the existing package, during the fixed term portion of the agreement. The subscriber will be liable to pay a migration fee for a downward migration, which will be determined at the time of requesting the migration.
The subscriber shall retain any balance of the Once-Off Internet bundles at time of downward migration. 8ta shall, as a downward migration fee, recover the difference in handset subsidy between the original and the newly selected packages as well as a R400 incl. VAT administration fee. The subscriber shall continue with the existing agreement, and shall not be considered to have entered into a new agreement based on the migration request.
What happens if I want to cancel my contract?
A: Subscriber must give 8ta a 20 business working days’ notice. 8ta shall, as an early termination fee, recover R800 administration fee and also recover the device subsidy for the remainder of the contract term. There are no penalties for Month to Month contracts, however a subscriber on a month to month contract will have to provide a 30 days notice should they wish to terminate the contract.

Internet Saver packages are contract packages and can be subscribed to on a month to month, 12 or 24 month contract.
All prospective subscribers shall undergo credit vetting process before provisioning of the Internet Saver package.

A SIM card and Huawei E173 3G modem will be bundled with this offer, however month to month shall not include a device
Any additional usage over and above the recurring data bundle shall require the subscriber to behave like a pre-paid subscriber i.e. recharge with airtime to consume out of bundle data.
Subscribers need to recharge with airtime in order to purchase a Once-Off Internet Bundles. Once-off Internet Data bundles will expire at the end of the next calendar month from the date of activation.
Internet Saver Data subscribers shall be charged an Out-of-Bundle rate of R1.00 per MB.
The Recurring Internet Saver Data Bundle shall be pro-rated at the time of subscription.
The Recurring Internet Saver Data Bundle shall be valid until the end of the current calendar month it was allocated i.e. 100MB is available until the end of the month it was allocated.
8ta shall endeavor to ascertain that 3G coverage is always available where 8ta claims to have 3G coverage.
A compatible device is required to use 8.ta services. The maximum speed that can be experienced by the customer is dependent on the speed specification of the device and network speed.
8.ta is not liable for any loss or damage to your property or equipment arising out of the provision, installation or maintenance and use of the service.
8.ta will not incur any liability whatsoever for any loss or damage as a result of any use, authorised or unauthorised, resulting from virus attacks, security vulnerabilities, loss of information.
8.ta mobile services support soft-cell handover.
All Prices include VAT.
SMS is enabled for normal usage, notification and balance enquiry.

Subscriber must give 8ta a 20 business working days’ notice. The subscriber shall be liable to pay an early termination fee. The early termination fee will be calculated at the time of requesting the early termination. There shall be no penalties on month to month contracts.
8ta shall, as an early termination fee, recover R800 administration fee and also recover the device subsidy for the remainder of the contract term.
Service Conversions
This refers to scenarios where a subscriber wishes to change from:
The post paid account to either a hybrid account or a pre-paid option.
Early termination shall be applicable, but the subscriber shall be permitted to retain the originally assigned mobile number as allocated to, or ported over by Telkom Mobile.
